The all black lamb by Anita

 The All black lamb

Have you ever seen an all black lamb?

Because I did, I saw it yesterday. It was the first all black lamb I'd ever seen but my sister Ash saw it first and Hannah hasn't seen it yet.
Dad took me to see the all black lamb at Dickies. Dickies is another part of our farm. We took the camera to take some pictures of the black lamb. Dad said that the pictures were great.  But at the end when we were trying to take some pictures of the mum of the Black lamb, she jumped into the gate and broke it.
She was in the other paddock and both of her lambs went through the fence!  It was electric but they didn't seem to get a shock.
Dad went through the gate and went to get the sheep but she went through the fence back into the paddock where she was. I thought they would get hurt but it didn't look like they did.
Dad now has to fix that gate and it looked VERY broken!

Pet Care by Ike

Pet Care.

By Ike

Every morning I do the same jobs.

I get up and have breakfast first and then get dressed.

My jobs mainly have to do with pet care.

We have five  big dogs, four  are pig hunting dogs and one little dog called Peggy, a mini foxy x Chihuahua.  They are two male dogs and three girl dogs.

The dogs are called: Willow, Push, Cherry, Bow and Nod.

Willow is too young to go hunting.

Push is my main dog, she is a really good dog and is the leader of the pack.

Cherry is my Dad and brother Chase’s dog.

Bow and Nod are the other boy dogs. Plus Peggy, who mainly hangs around the house.

It is my job to feed them every morning and night.

They eat dog food pellets.

We buy our food from Farmlands in big sacks.

When we get home we put the dog food in a massive blue drum which is nearly as big as me.

I use a paua shell scoop to get the food out.

The other thing I do is make sure the dogs  get enough water.

I also have to run the dogs every morning and sometimes have to run the girl dogs separately.

They also get let off to run about the property for a few hours and then I put them back in the kennels.  Peggy is a bit spoiled because she gets the run of the house.

Sometimes the dogs howl,  I don’t know why they do that, maybe they hear something.

The dogs are excellent guard dogs as they let you know when someone is coming onto our property.

I also have 2 axolotls. Their names are Ghost, because he is white and the other axolotl is called Bronzo, from my favourite youtube video about Minecraft. They get fed worms, sometimes meat scraps and axolotl food.

The axolotls have their own tank, otherwise they might eat the other fish.

We also  have a nice tank,  with two goldfish  called Jeffry and Mark. They get fed fish food.

It is also my job to clean both tanks, they sometimes get slimy.

We have a cool suction light thing and it sucks the rocks half way up and cleans off the slime.  It is like a fish tank vacuum cleaner.

I help to look after the goats and their babies. I feed them hay and food scraps and give the babies lots of cuddles!

Recently our goat chocolate chip had a kid.

It was a girl she is very cute I’m going to name her Biscuit. I always get to name the baby goats.

I kind of like doing all the pet care, it is fun.

I really love my pets.

Harrison has been shearing

“Oomf you sheep! You mongrel sheep.

The night before shearing me, dad, mum and Annabelle were getting sheep down to start filling the woolshed up, we filled the shed up to the brim otherwise the sheep would have gotten wet! Then we wouldn't have been able to shear!

The next morning the shearers arrived, Nick, Floyd, Dean and Dylan are their names. We have a cup of tea before we start.

Away we go! First sheep out of the pen. The shearers get sweaty very quickly.

My job is making sure the shearers catching pens are full. I stand on the rails waiting for one of the shearers to finish their pens. I think Floyd’s pen is nearly empty. I walk on the rails over to the pen trying not to fall off them, it is good practice for my balance!

I jump in the pen and open the gate for the sheep to go in, but they don't, you naughty sheep!

(they always do this)

“Hup! Hup! Way you go into the pen, come on!”

After 10 mins of chasing them around they get their butts moving.

I worked up a lot of sweat!

‘’Off you go sheep up the race you go!’’

When one sheep goes up the race the rest play follow the leader. Dad clamps the first sheep and dips it with a drench gun, then he drenches them with drench. The sheep hates it, “Baaaa”. (sheep words for yuck!). Once the sheep is let go they jump out of the clamp. It's funny to watch because they look like rabbits and deer hopping around.  This is not a quick job!

It takes about a day to do 600-1000 sheep. The drench protects the sheep from lice, worms and foot rot.

At the end of the day, we have a beer and some food and head off to bed.
