Motorbike Concussion
By Harrison
‘’Areeeeeeeeee!!!!’ crash !!!!
My eyelids flickered open and shut fast as I came to.
I'm not sure what happened.
I found myself on a bank of long green grass. For about 2 minutes I lay there gasping for air on the ground. I felt like my chest had slammed hard on the handlebars of my motorbike.
It was a typical spring morning hooning around on my motorbike in the paddock. The weather was sunny with a little breeze and the grass was a little dewy. I was riding flat out down the hill, not paying attention to my surroundings. I’d forgotten there were three holes in front of me where I was heading. Slam!
My front tyre got caught up in the first hole.
I went sailing over the handlebars. Well, at least I thought I did. I can't quite remember because I think I may have knocked myself out.
When I came to, I was pretty groggy and I could not breathe. My chest hurt, I think I hit the handlebars very hard.
I dragged myself over to my bike to make sure it was ok. My bike was my priority, I needed to make sure there was no fuel running through the carburettor. I shoved my bike up and put it on its stand. I collapsed on the ground, desperately gulping air into my lungs!
I was about a kilometre away from the house and down a dip, so no one could see me or help me. After a couple of minutes, when I felt my breathing was under control again, I hopped on my motorbike and slowly rode down to the house. Once I got home I took off all my gear and checked my body for any damage. Luckily it was only a couple of scratches and no broken bones. For the rest of the day I sat on the couch just relaxing and not doing much. About five days later I was all good, back riding on my motorbike, but a lot more cautious!
