Last week we had 600 mls of rain and the farm was hit by the flood. Last year we had a flood but it wasn't as bad as this one because Nelson didn't flood.
We lost 31 hectares of grass because the paddocks were all covered in rocks and sand. Since we lost heaps of grass, we got two big truck loads worth of hay and baleage for the cows. We put them in the paddock that we thought didn't flood, but after a day or two, the water was starting to rise and flood that paddock. So we had to run the cows across the road and up onto the hills.
