The day after Ben's toy vanished he decided to ask his friend Elliot. She is also good at solving mysteries and she loves setting up tripwires.
“Can I have a look at those notes?” Elliot asked.
“Yep”.
“Mysteriously mysterious,” Elliot said in wonder, studying them with a magnifying glass.
“And I don't know who wrote them,” Ben said confused.
“Don't you dare tell my secret. If you do, you'll be sorry, I will take your favourite things,” Elliot read.
After a couple minutes they were all lost deep in thought and now Jeremy was lost deep in thought too. but then suddenly Elliot said “Ben you've told me about the note and maybe if the person who's writing the note thinks that you're telling the secret, we could make a trap to catch the person who is writing the notes to you”.
“Is that just an excuse to set tripwires? "Jeremy asked.
“Yes it is”.
They spent the rest of lunch break making the best tripwire ever.
When someone tripped over the string, it would send off a catapult, which would catapult a little rock to another catapult and that second catapult would send off a net to catch the person. Then when the net falls it would send off another catapult, which would make the net come back up again with the person in it.
“It looks a bit catapulty,” says Ben. Everybody stared at Elliot.
“What”, “I like catapults” says Elliot, amazed at what they created.
“Do you think it will work?” asked Jeremy. “What have we got for bait Jeremy?” Smiled Elliot.
“Umm…I have a pen” “Will that work?” asked Jeremy
“Yeah that should”
Just before they left school they were walking past the room that had their tripwire in, when they heard…
“Oof oww”
They all ran into the room and there hovering (in the net) is Tomlla, Tom, Tom. Tomlla was the one who stole Lucy's lunch money and also Mrs Spencer’s silver pen.
“I should have known it was you, Tomlla,” said a surprised Jeremy.
“Yes,” whispered Tomlla.
“Why did you take my toy and leave those weird notes?” asked Ben.
“It was because you saw me stick Elliot's jerseys to the wall with glue”.
“I was wondering why my jersey didn't come off the wall,” Elliot thought.
“Can you get me out of this net now?”“Yeah… as long as you give back our stuff”.
